Well, once they determine when life begins then they can determine when they can end it. Some say at conception, some say when there is a heartbeat, some say when there are signs of brain activity and some say when it's able to survive outside the womb. Answer the first question universally and then you can answer when you can terminate the pregnancy.
We all have different opinions about life and when it starts and if you can morally end one because of malformations or disease before birth, or if you let it be born to a life of misery and costly expense that will bankrupt the parents and taxpayers have to raise or if the parents will just abandon it. Was it conceived in a manner that was traumatizing such as rape or incest? All things to be considered.
Drs. also take an oath to do no harm. No harm to who? The mother or the fetus growing inside her? Where does a Dr. who also is a human who has an obligation to their patent but also a moral compass as well? We have choices...the mother, the Drs. and the rights of the unborn.
Once all those questions get ironed out is when we can universally conclude when abortions are legal, justified, or not if not, make adoptions a choice that is affordable and easy in America. jmo |
