Yes, they do, but not repeatedly. And when caught in the lie, they don't usually double-down on it and keep insisting it's true - they walk it back or at least say they were wrong. Trump has only one gear - forward. He will never, ever, ever, admit that he was wrong about something, as evidenced by this AL hurricane nonsense that he STILL won't let go of 5 days later.
