Take a moment to read the article you are citing rather than just the headline. NPR is simply reporting on what NOAA said. NPR is not saying that Trump was right.
The NOAA statement came from some political appointee who wouldn't know science if it bit him; the scientists who actually do the work stood by their opinion, and the chief NOAA scientist supported them today.
Don't believe what you read - do your own research. The NOAA maps are available at http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/cyclones/
Trump said there was a 95% chance that AL would be hit hard - not a single one of those maps show that possibility. The ONLY NOAA map that showed a tiny sliver of south-eastern Alabama possibly being affected by wind from Dorian was Advisory #26 on 8/30 at 5 PM. The path shifted to the northeast the next day, 8/31. Trump tweeted about Alabama being in the path on 9/1 when that was clearly not true, yet he continues to insist 8 days later that he was right. It's a lie, period.
Facts matter and science is based on facts. Don't take my word for it; take 10 minutes to look at the maps and realize that he's lying, or just accept what your cult leader says and tell the rest of us who actually try to VERIFY what he says that we are wrong. |
