A REAL case example.
I hired a maid service several months ago, and was charged $90 per bi-weekly visit. This was a startup, and he paid the maids $10 to start (Indiana minimum wage), and gave them a raise to $12 after 2 months. These employees are paid for drive time, and he paid one of them an extra $20 for fuel reimbursement. In March he increased my fee to $100 due to both rising labor costs and increases in his cost of supplies.
He just stopped by to inspect his new hires work, and we talked about how business is going. That’s when he broke it to me that he is going to have to increase his prices to $129!
He cannot find anyone to work for the Indiana minimum wage of $10, they all are demanding $15. So now he must give his existing employees a $5 raise.
Let’s keep in mind that wages are $15 per hour but that is NOT what it costs him to keep an employee. He has to match their SS. He must pay SUTA. He must pay FUTA. He must carry Workman’s comp. He must carry Liability for those using their cars. All of his suppliers wages are rising, so they are increasing the costs of supplies.
Thank you once again you un-thinking liberals. Once again you can’t see past the tip of your noses.
