Don't faint, but I agree with you - except that her replacement would be appointed by Newsom, not the voters, until the next election. I was thinking that an ideal solution would be for him to appoint someone like Barbara Boxer, who already knows the job, because she wouldn't be interested in running for another term. Then I looked her up and discovered that she's 82. [That might still be an improvement - but Newsom would probably get skewered for that. ]
I'm not holding my breath for any of that to happen, though - including people being able to convince Feinstein to retire, which I suspect many are trying to do... |
