It's occurred to me that the majority of the discussion back and forth regarding Biden's mental capacity and supposed decline deal with really inconsequential stuff (like whether or not Camilla has the word 'Consort' in her title...) Perhaps it's time we acknowledge that conservative media outlets are pushing the idea and tend to selectively present clips that add fuel to the fire.
Tomorrow (Thurs) at 4 pm Eastern, on MSNBC (if you dare tune-in), there will be a great opportunity to get a much clearer picture of Biden's capabilities without benefit of heavy editing - or use of a teleprompter. Former Republican Nicole Wallace will be doing a live 1:1 interview with POTUS, presumably on whatever SCOTUS announces earlier in the day.
I imagine he'll have the usual stumbles and word challenges he's had his whole life as a stutterer, but that he'll hold his own when it comes to commenting knowledgeably on whatever topics are covered. We'll see...
I also suspect that Fox, OAN, and Trump's network (I forgot what he calls it), will later have highly spun and edited versions of the conversation that will support the presumption of his mental decline. Anyone who is open minded enough to want to judge for themselves should try to watch the interview live (or record it and watch the unedited version later). That's my plan.
BTW, even if Biden has slowed down some, I believe he's still much sharper than Trump ever was. As Mike referred to in another post above, he's accomplished quite a bit (actually, more than I expected...) since he's been in office, to the point where GOP members are claiming credit for things they voted against, like the infrastructure bill. Trump talked about it all the time, but never did anything. Biden just hasn't spent time crowing about how wonderful and perfect he is. (It's amazing what can be accomplished when you don't care who gets the credit and media coverage. He understands that.) He's letting the results speak for themselves, although hopefully we'll hear more about his achievements now that his re-election campaign is underway.
Frankly, it's pretty amazing that post-pandemic, we haven't had a recession, and the economy seems to be starting another upswing. We've had the lowest levels of inflation in the industrialized world and have the fastest growing economy.
