So true! What many of those folks don't get is that there never will be herd immunity if too many refuse to get the vaccine. Basically, they're hoping enough others will stand up and do the right thing so they don't have to, as if it's some great sacrifice. As many of us have already found out, getting the vaccine is not that big of a deal, but NOT getting it could be a very big deal...
I heard today that there are a number of new variants recently discovered. Lucky for us in CA, they've discovered one somewhere here that seems to be less virulent than the UK variant, and it may be crowding out the latter one. (Complicated issue...) But the next one could be resistant to the current vaccines and/or even more deadly. (That may be the case for the South African one.) |
