I don't worry about the pens. Most people return them but some people really like them and ask if they could have it and I let them. That way they will remember me when they use it or need another notarization. Many homeowners associations don't allow street parking and on garbage day there is usually no where to park but in a driveway. Also, there are parts of this town that require a permit to park on the street and borrowers have had to make arrangements with their neighbors to provide a place for me to park.
When there are little kids involved in the household I offer to let them do their thumbprint on a blank piece of paper once we are finished with the signing. Most kids are usually pretty good when they have something like that to look forward to.
Just a few evenings ago I was very entertained by a 2 year old who knew his entire alphabet, all of his colors, and could also count. His 6 month old sister kept herself entertained with a toy the entire time we were doing the signing |
