These are 2 difference entities. An e-notary provides an electronic signature, electronic notary seal and registration number to an electronic notarial certificate, which in turn is securely attached to an underlying document in a manner that will render evident subsequent alterations.
In becoming an e-notary for Virginia, I worked with IdenTrust to create my digital certificate (that is the technology/company who is providing the service) and ACORN Sales to create my digital notary stamp. These 2 items are then combined to create your e-notary certificate that you will use whenever you e-notarize a pdf document. This is NOT webcam stuff...this is STRICTLY BECOMING AN E-NOTARY. That is a whole other ball of wax and too complicated to go into here (it has also been addressed before; orange button search). I use NotaryAct as my electronic journal. |
