settlement companies too - too often I hear of people who pay thousands to these companies only to be told 3 years down the line that nothing could be done. They're fleecing of the public is just as bad...and just as rampant.
Just as in mortgage mods, where you can deal directly with your lender, you can also settle and compromise your claims if your financial situation has hit that crisis level. You don't need a third party taking your money to do it for you.
