but how would that work with people in nursing homes? Most times they can't get to the phone - at least down here.
What I *DO* tell the family that calls and arranges this are the requirements - witnesses, current ID available, - and clarify that signer is on board with it and has reviewed, or will review, the doc, is lucid, etc etc (lucid being something I look for when I get there also) - I also stress that my travel fee (agreed fee less notarization fee) is payable no matter whether I can do the notarization or not. Most times they are very agreeable to this.
Unfortunately, although I'd love to speak with the signer, most times that's not possible here.
