This has happened to me only twice in 40 years of notary work.
One with a Korean gentleman, very mistrusting of his lender and any one linked with the lender.
The other was with an 85 year old bedridden lady. I will never forget her name and where she lives. Very wealthy, was a little testy. Wanted to make sure I was indeed the notary. I too said, well, if I'm not the notary you're expecting, why do I have your documents? How did I know your name.
She was in a diaper, Clearly her children were taking very good care of her, she had an enormous, antique, very ornate bed, beautiful linens, and when we're all done with business, she asks me to lift her legs up onto the bed and place a couple of pillows under her feet, which I happily did, and then I asked her if she had everything she needed, and she said yes and thanked me. One of most profound encounters of my notary life.
It was a $100K HELOC to upgrade the kitchen dining and bathrooms. What a pleasure to be the selected NSA for this assignment. Sometimes there are some very "rich" moments in this career. |
