I go to do a signing today. As you can read I'm in KY. I get to the closing, and this happens.
I can't conduct the signing there because the lender and the homebuilder are connected business-wise. Not shady, but very legit. One invests/runs/owns the other. Conflict of interest?
Here's my call. Even though I will conduct the signings off-site at their request(not a problem at all, really. Nice, quiet places close by to sit and sign.) Wouldn't my status as the CSA and as a notary in my state that I am neutral and conducting the signing with 2 willing participants. Shouldn't my non-interest, independent, and basically the role of just certification merit that they could conduct the signing there?
I've been doing this now pushing 17 years. This was a curveball I've never even heard of and was wondering if any of you experienced signers out there have encountered this.
PS......Another lowballer/broker/middleman got the boot this week, I'm so sick of late docs. Be on time or get the boot. Felt like feeding a newbie, what can I say.............. |
