If the writing and grading of the test, written or oral, has gone in the direction of the blog, it's become more and more of an overreaching effort to apply CA standards to all states. This would result in more and more "answers" that would be wrong outside of CA.
Some questions and answers for my state that might surprise a CA notary:
Q: Does your commission number have to appear on your seal? A. There's no such thing as a commission number and seals are optional. If a notary chooses to have a seal, the design is up to the notary's discretion.
Q: How long to you have to respond to a written request for a copy of a journal entry? A: Journals are optional, but if the notary keeps one, it is a public record. The notary has no obligation to respond to request to mail a copy, but the notary will have to set up an appointment for a member of the public who wishes to view the journal in person.
Q: Which of the following is NOT allowed as an identification document when administering an oath: (a) personal knowledge (b) one credible witness known to the notary (c) University of Vermont student ID (d) Quebec driver license?
A: The notary need not identify the affiant before administering an oath. |
