I agree with what some of the others have said - there are free alternatives to Microsoft Office, and so there's no need to spend any money at all.
Personally, I use Open Office. There's not much of a learning curve involved in switching from the Microsoft suite of programs - you can do pretty much anything you could do with Office, but they couldn't mimic the program completely for obvious copyright reasons, so sometimes you have to search for the menu option you need. By default, Open Office uses its own file format when saving documents, but that is easy to change.
I have not had any experience with either LibreOffice or Google Docs, but I'm sure they operate pretty much the same way, except for the fact that the Google product is online rather than on your computer, which for me is a non-starter when it comes to personal documents. I want my personal stuff on my computer behind a firewall, not up in the "cloud" somewhere.
Give them a spin and see which one you're most comfortable with. All are compatible with Windows 10, and I don't see how any update to the OS will break one of them |
