I'm still getting by with a 2010 version of MS Office. I've always preferred 'owning' to 'renting' and that goes for use of my own data, as much as anything else. While I see the incentive for companies to go in that direction, I don't like the idea of being dependent on some third party for security and ongoing access to info I need.
This isn't exactly the same thing, but by way of example, the bank where I have all my accounts was acquired by another a few years ago. I've noticed that where they used to have statement info accessible online going back seven years (which could be very helpful in case of an audit, etc.), now it's only three years. So there are some accounts where I continue to get paper statements - just in case.
There are probably lots of other examples. The most significant for some of us might be upgrades, where equipment that's otherwise working fine for us, may no longer be satisfactory, as online vendors update their software. I get that that's the way things are these days - but I don't have to like it!
