When I arrive at the jail facility, I prove my ID, the clerk on watch runs my drivers license to make sure I'm not "wanted", and then I'm escorted to a visitor room where there is a bullet proof glass with wire and I communicate with the incarcerated citizen via phone. The deputy takes my journal around to the client and has him sign the document and my journal, gets a thumbprint and brings all back to me, I am escorted out through no less than 3 secure doors that only open when the sheriff's deputy slides a card. We're on video camera at all times.
I've only had one loan signing at the jail about 6 years ago. It was with a very high net worth client arrested on DUI charges, and we sat in the yard on a picnic table. |
