attorneys have tried several times to get it changed back to one, but they haven't been successful as far as I know.
For the OP, I suggest you market to some title companies in NC, especially in the area you're in. I know several cos. that used to work out of Charlotte. There's a couple of notaries on the forum from NC, so they may be able to give you some tips.
Otherwise, I don't work with SD, and suggest you don't depend on them entirely to provide you with work. The field is very competitive now since business has slowed so much.
If you haven't already done so, make sure you do a complete profile here on NR. It's valuable advertising space.
