thought about moving to NC when all that was going on. The SOS determined that it was in the best interests of the consumers for notaries to be part of the process. I don't think NC are allowed to charge travel fees. The issue seems to have been when it was brought to someone's attention that the HUD listed "notary fees" in the amt. of something like $150, which was excessive for notary fees by state guidelines. Again, the role of NSA's is misunderstood in many states, including VA.
