Along with a number of stories about so-called sovereign citizens from reliable news outlets, in which you will find mention of their use of notarial protests.
In addition to reading large parts of the UCC, and seeing the definitions of some of the key words, such as "instrument", "presentment", "dishonor", and "acceptance". I've also looked up these and related words in the current 10th edition of Black's Law Dictionary.
Note that the part of the UCC you quoted states "A protest is a certificate of dishonor made by a United States consul or vice consul, or a notary public or other person authorized to administer oaths by the law of the place where dishonor occurs. It may be made upon information satisfactory to that person." The way I read it, YOU are "THAT PERSON". So are are you satisfied that the instrument is the kind of instrument that is eligible for a protest? Are you able to discern whether presentment has been made? Do you know who presentment should be made to? Do you know what dishonored, nonacceptance, and nonpayment mean in the context of the UCC? |
