Mortgage Connect mostly is the escrow conduit for WF loans. WF has such a small market share of loans out there. You're right to send out an alert about their slow pay, as they may be ripe to be acquired by a more stable company with more diversified client base, not just one lender.
As far as witnesses are concerned, MC expects notaries to provide the witnesses, and this is all wrong. Witnesses should be the responsibility of the borrower, not the notary. I would never bring a non-vetted third party to the signing to serve as a witness or for any other reason.
