Sorry you are having a problem collecting. I wouldn't get terribly concerned just yet as long as you sent the invoice. I get regular work from MC and Inspire, and I believe they have a 15th and a 30th check cut. Sometimes this puts you at the 45 day mark depending on when the invoice is sent. Add another 5 days for mail. Not a huge deal for me, but to each his own. Some of the hoops they have you jump through are a bit of a pain, but they pay me well and offer regular work and I know exactly what to expect from them so all is OK in my book.
As far as the witness conversation, they are not required in my state. If I get an assignment for a witness state it is always the responsibility of the borrower. I the rare case I do have to provide one I charge extra. Only requirement is over 18 and not a relative.
