In my opinion, you made the right decision. The SS clearly has no need for this private information - the lender or the TC already has it as part of the application process, so why does the SS - a middleman who doesn't even see the loan documentation - have a need for it? Too many people with access to too much private information is a recipe for disaster.
The bit about the SS threatening that the client would take the property back if the requested documentation was not provided to THEM (a party that didn't need it) is outrageous and just asking for legal action to be taken against them. You've done what you are supposed to do and your hands are clean, but be aware that you still might find yourself dragged into a lawsuit if the customer is angry enough to pursue this. |
