Sounds like the weather I grew up in the 70's in northern WI. Only they never called it a "Polar Vortex" just winter in the great white north. The good thing is that almost everything is shut down, they have warnings to stay home, schools closed...it's crazy they schedule or expect any closings to be happening when everything is shut down and warnings to stay home including Fed Ex and UPS and USPS. The good thing is they know this and will let you work it out. The largest concern is that when temps are colder than 15- that your car can literally break apart. Your leather seats and dash will crack just from sitting down or shutting your door. Every hose can split open, you hit a pothole and can snap an axel from the cold if you didn't warm it up in a garage or plugged in engine heater. It's just not worth it. Throw some clay cat litter in your trunk for the ice when you do venture out and let that car warm up before you start driving it. My brother in Northern WI says Sunday is expected rain, so that is even worse because that frozen ground will instantly freeze into ice, much like the coils in an ice rink. Even though will be warming up, will be even more dangerous should you be getting that warm up. Be careful! |
