I agree with Lee/AR's advice above. Here are a couple of other tips I believed I picked up from this forum that might also come in handy...
I learned to arrange to meet with the deponent early enough before their assigned time to call in to or receive a call from the court to take care of payment and any journal entries that may need to be done.
I've also quoted a base fee if everything goes as scheduled, plus a contingency if I'm required to wait, usually in 15 or 30 minute increments, depending on the circumstances. The base fee was also collected before the call-in, so I didn't need anything else if the call happened on time. I just administered the oath and was able to just quietly leave while the deposition or testimony continued. So far, I've been fortunate to not have any where I needed to wait. |
