It's kind of like the signatures...where they say that the borrowers have to sign exactly the way that the signature line is printed. More often than not, I've found that either they sign differently or the signatures are illegible, so no one can really tell if they signed as the signature line is printed. Moral of the story is consistency. As long as they sign the same way all the way through the documents, no one will likely say anything. The minute that anything stands out as being different, they will question it.
If someone accidentally puts a date in where it isn't asked for, and I don't feel like finding the borrower copy and switching it out, I'll just have them line it out and initial it. I guess that's the one case where "too much" isn't better than "too little". Sometimes the title company gets really upset if they put a date in where it isn't asked for. |
