That should be the standard answer to that line - "If they'll work cheaper than I will, why aren't you calling them?"
The more intelligent may come back with something like: "They're all too busy because they have so much work and I really need someone to fill this job". Your next response should be something along the lines of, "Well, I guess you have a problem. I'd be happy to help you out - my fee is $XXX".
These clowns think that notaries are stupid and don't know their worth. Everyone else is taking lower fees and has more work than they can handle, so why don't you get on board and do what they're doing? Right.
