had been purchased at the USPS station in Santa Monica and is on its way to me for Monday delivery via certified mail. Total cost to do this, borne by the purchaser/hiring party should not have been necessary, and only added about $10 to his expense for a deal that brought him no results from his client due to fraud.
Hopefully it arrives, and I'll be a happy camper. It certainly was a wake up call. There was a big red flag or two that I missed when accepting this job, and I am now on heightened awareness for jobs I should just say NO to.
My advice to all notaries, new and seasoned, to listen to the little voice in your head that says RUN.
I will let you know when the MO arrives and I'm whole on this fiasco assignment.
Meanwhile, my brother in Ojai just finished a remodel for an LA couple who bought a fixer upper. The lady shorted him $1500, so my brother challenged the amount on the check. She said, "I've paid you enough." My brother is an excellent carpenter, licensed contractor for over 30 years. That's our next challenge. These city people come to our little village and want to take advantage of skilled craftsmen. I am about to learn about liening the property he worked so hard to turn into a work of art.
