Simply put, the democrats slow walked the appointment of Jeff Sessions; the Attorney General was not in office to oversee the case;
the next attorney in line with the Department of Justice recused himself for a conflict of interest;
the emergency case was thrust upon an inexperienced DOJ staff attorney who was ill informed an unprepared. Sad, but true.
