Re: UPDATE: Limbaugh quietly evacuates Palm Beach
Posted by MikeC/TX of TX on 9/8/17 7:27pm Msg #70922
Could not broadcast from the location because he was bugging out.

The things he said were indefensible; rather than downplay the effects of the storm, he should have used his pulpit to tell people to evacuate. He chose instead to spin a conspiracy theory about how the storm was a hoax - and then realized that it wasn't and made sure he got his own fat butt to safety but never told his listeners to protect themselves.

There is no possible defense here - he lied about the strength of the storm, possibly causing others to ignore evacuation orders, and then made sure he was personally out of danger. Had he said, "I was wrong, this is a dangerous storm and you need to take precautions", I would give him a pass - but he didn't do that. He just ran away from the storm, leaving his listeners to believe the conspiracy theory he sold them. My hope is that most of them in FL didn't believe him. I'm sure there are some who did believe him - what happens to them is on him.
