Most have voted along party lines, with no concern for what a real, legitimate investigation would have shown, except for these:
Heidi Heitkampt (D) - voted her conscious against Kavanaugh, knowing full well that this would probably cost her a Senate seat. That's someone who will support country over party.
Lisa Murkowski (R) - voted against Kavanaugh, based on her conscious and what her constituents wanted. For once, actually doing her job.
Susan Collins (R) - voted for Kavanaugh, despite the fact that her constituents were opposed. 50 minutes of convoluted BS to explain her vote, will probably not run for reelection in 2020 because the majority of voters in Maine are pissed at her decision. They've finally figured out that she's a GOP hack.
Joe Manchin (D) - voted for Kavanaugh, because that's what his constituents want. Voting against would cost him an election. No guts, no glory - when retaining your Senate seat is more important than doing what's right, you've sold your soul. Time for Manchin to switch his party affiliation.
Jeff Flake (R) - what can we say? His name is definitely apropos. Not running for reelection, pretended to actually care about what was going on, and in the end, chose to vote for Kavanaugh and support his party. Flake has made noise about running for POTUS in 2020 - that ain't gonna happen.
This is what politics is all about today - with rare differences, it's about supporting the tribe rather than addressing the issue. Our tribe has to win. no matter how it affects the country. |
