Great dinners, huge margaritas and live serenades at Casa de Pico on weekends. On occasion I would hold breakfast meetings there to treat my staff. Too bad the restaurant moved away. I was a thrift & loan manager on University Ave, doing real estate loans way back then.
Beach ball in Feb? I thought I had died and gone to heaven. It was a nicer 'smaller' town back then. We lived in Kensington, rode our bikes through the neighborhood walked to the Ken Cinema to catch old movies. Made a lot of friends and still stay in touch with one young couple back then (now grandparents). Did a lot with them through the years. Interesting how lives intermingle that way.
I was transferred to Santa Clara to run a branch right before flight 182 crashed into North Park. (San Diego is broken up into neighborhoods with names.) Janet, were you there when that happened? The young wife of the couple I mentioned was looking out of her office window and saw the plane go down. OK, bummer memory, back to the nicer ones!
