Have had this procedure done at Sam's Club gas station (a few times). The windshield fixer uppers were there (don't recall what company they were with) inspecting all vehicles. If there was a ding, they made their services available in the parking lot. Took all of maybe 1/2 an hour. They take your insurance info and contact your insurance company right there and then and get authorization. Didn't cost me anything (I have AAA full coverage). It's worked great on a couple of small dings. A larger ding has been redone at least once. Keeps the ding from expanding and cracking further.
