Let me backup. I went into the hospital where I'm having surgery to get all my pre-op tests done. I asked who I might talk to regarding post surgery equipment and such. They sent me to the lady who would check me in and we just did everything in advance.
After asking her what I should buy for post-op, she says, "You don't need anything".
"Oh, does someone provide that?" "Provide what?" So I ran off the list of things I was about to order that I only know about from researching online.
The look on her face was saying, "You poor thing. You really don't know what you are doing do you?"
What she actually said was, "No, you don't need buy anything, you won't NEED anything. You are going to be walking."
But..but..
"No, you don't need anything." I started to laugh. "But I bought a knee slide online". With the same look she said, "You won't need that."It was really getting funny!
"You will have a walker for a few days, a nurse and PT will come to your home for 3 days. The PT will continue to come to your home for however long necessary and go from there. We have a knee replacement orientation luncheon on Tuesday. You are welcome to come and join the fun (okay she didn't say the last part). They will outline everything for you."
"Don't bring any medicine you are taking either. That will all be provided."
"BTW, here's your wash kit" Hah! |
