"I miss the refreshing ocean."
Posted by Bear900/CA of CA on 5/3/18 11:25am Msg #30268
After saying my name those were my brother's last words to me. I took the chance to tell him in just a few seconds about a funny thing he and I did once and only we two knew. He laughed then fell back asleep.

Giving all credit to my aunt and cousin who took it upon themselves to stay behind when everyone left and gave me a call when he woke up with no one else there. They must have known (or guessed) his routine as they called me in advance last Friday and told me to please stay by my phone! So much appreciated I sent them both flowers. He passed two days later.

I have kept touch with his family and fortunately been able to assist from a distance.

With no knowledge of my brother, I have had an overwhelming response from local friends and neighbors concerned on how I am doing post-op. Thank you for the PMs here too.

I need to focus much more on my knee and hope I can get sufficient rest now.

Not to leave without a funny Bear story. I was washing some dishes a couple days ago and suddenly found myself standing in a sea of water. Water was racing into the dining room! Traced it quickly to the cabinet beneath the sink. I reattached and tightened the sink trap by hand then looked for a mop and bucket in the garage. Nada! Fortunately I have a ton of older bath and beach towels in the garage that I grabbed and successfully cleaned up moving the towels with both legs. Saved the day, then realized I was running around the house and garage without my walker! Whoaaaa... yeah I know. Leg swelled but I am now walking on my own more or less, pushing the walker ahead of me. My body would have screamed at me if I wasn't in shape enough to handle an emergency. Cannot overstate the importance. I walk around more and more without the walker but always have something nearby to hold onto.

I keep thinking about AmigoAZ: need to get a cane!
