Bear, you are an inspiration! I kind of wish I had a good space for a garden, but gardening has never been something I've enjoyed doing, so that probably wouldn't make much difference. But I salute you and your success! Over the past three months with holidays, parties, etc., I've put back on about 5 of the 15+ pounds I lost last year, but intend to get back into exercise mode and have already done some tweaking with my diet. I'm extremely grateful that (so far) I haven't had any problems with knees or hips, and I want to keep it that way!
Speaking of eating healthily, I came across a very interesting article the other day that may be another reason to stay away from, or minimize, red meat: http://nautil.us/issue/67/reboot/iron-is-the-new-cholesterol?utm_source=pocket&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=pockethits. It's a little bit long, but I found some of the most interesting info towards the end.
[On a just slightly related note, one more reason to cut red meat from our diets that I've read recently is that a major contributor to methane in the atmosphere (and global warming, as a result) is cow flatulence... True! ]
