Some title offices and lawyers are sending docs to signers in advance as a matter of policy now. But we can't take for granted that signers actually are reviewing ahead of time; my smoothest signings happen when THEY are fully prepared!
Also helps to know which docs are to be signed by NON-Borrowing spouses; hopefully that raises a red flag during the paper shuffling, but I really don't think that's part of my duty to question one way or the other (your name's there, you sign).
Again, they don't teach you this stuff
P.S. When I was brand new, someone at TC (or maybe SS) called me one evening after a signing I'd done - which should have had the non-borrowing spouse's paperwork included - to give me a "lecture." Actually he was really kind about it; and it was nice of him to take the time to train. Wish I knew who that guy was.
