I got my first failing grade ever in 9th grade Algebra. Still struggle with the perception of myself my Algebra teacher gave me when she (she!) said, "Oh, well, girls don't usually do well in math subjects anyway." Still have to ask my co-workers for help with "If x is $32.50, then what percentage of $53,975 is x?" because I'm so unsure of myself. When they tease me for not knowing basic math, I shrug it off. After all, I'm better in other things (like spelling and grammar and telling good jokes) than they are.
As an old boss would say, "It all comes out in the wash." And it all does. |
