Ok, Rose. Now that more information is coming to light -- like you want to only notarize the loan package and not deal with the rest of the package (and it sounds like you want borrowers to already have their package and you don't print) AND you've been a loan processor -- now we can try to answer your question.
If you can find hiring entities who will only use your notary services (and not require you to present entire signing package), you will be doing what's usually called general notary work (GNW). In California, when hired for GNW, we can charge per notarized signature plus travel/accommodation fees. What and how much does your state allow? Some states only allow $2 per signature. If you're only notarizing 4 signatures, would you be willing to travel to borrowers and get paid only $8 for your trouble. A little something else to keep in mind, I've been called by borrowers who have been sent their package by the lender (usually modifications) and told to find a notary. When they contact me and I give them the option of GNW or full signing agent (along with price difference), they'll pick GNW. When I get there, they have questions and/or they'll ask me to look over the signed package, since I'm experienced in these matters, to be sure everything is in order. That is no longer a GNW appointment.
