Recently went through it myself and that was like wrestling with a bear to get through it all, but finally finished all the conversions. I was grateful! 
So my software choice this time for security (Norton Premium) includes an automated scheduled backup that runs in the background during CPU idle times. I configured it to create the backup files on an external hard drive [3 terrabytes].
