I caught of piece of something about this on the radio this morning, specifically about how often facial recognition is wrong, especially with African Americans. Seems there's bias built into the assumptions and algorithms of most of those systems. The percentage of false positives was pretty high.
I also remember reading a while back that not all facial recognition systems are the same. The variance partly has to do with how many "points" on a person's face are actually recorded. The fewer the measurement points, the less accurate, which makes sense.
Sounds like another area where technology is getting ahead of itself.
