I've had signings canceled at the last minute - once when I was AT the borrower's house waiting for the documents to be delivered by FedEx, only to get a call that the signing was canceled. I didn't even get paid the promised travel fee. It's part of the territory because guys like YOU really don't see notaries as important to your business. Notaries are just interchangeable parts that have nothing better to do than sit around all day and wait for people like you to call them and bless them with an assignment.
You guys have no problem with screwing over notaries - stiffing them for payment, canceling confirmed assignments because you continued to shop around and found someone willing to do the job for $10 less, delaying the docs to the point where it becomes impossible to print them and make it to the appointment on time - and now your feelings are hurt because someone canceled an assignment one hour after accepting it and you don't care enough about your own business to check your email after business hours? You poor baby.
And THEN you have the audacity to come into OUR house and complain about a notary who turned back a job in a timely fashion? Maybe she had a family emergency. Maybe she realized she was overbooked. Maybe, as others have suggested, she looked you up, realized you have payment issues and decided she didn't want to chase whatever paltry fee you offered for the next 6 months with no guarantee of ever collecting it. It doesn't matter - she canceled an hour later. not at the last minute. This one's on you, Sparky - in the future, check your email. |
