I have mentioned before and I'll mention again that it may be worthwhile to get together and draft a template letter than can be shared and sent around the local notary communities in each state/region. If everyone is using this down-time to work in unison to get the message out, then by the time things return to normal, there could be a significantly larger number of local notaries who may not know what they should be getting paid who will be likely to ask for higher fees, thus driving up the average fee amount in everyone's regions.
We obviously cannot say that everyone should collude to accept signings at $xxx.xx, as that would be price fixing, but mutually educating one another on the average fees that are acceptable for different types of products and the typical fee range that TOs/EOs/LOs authorize would mean that LSAs/NSAs could make more educated decisions when negotiating a price. |
