as a real estate closing paralegal in CT - so I came here and got what certifications/background checks I needed and started joining sites (like this one)
The most valuable thing to me in my business was my experience in CT - and I would suggest that anyone looking to get in to this business should look to get a job, whether part time or full time, in a title or escrow office - that would be the absolute best mentor you could ever get. Doesn't have to be permanent but you'll have an income while you learn hands-on on the job AND while you study for your TPL - heck, with the right agency they may pay for it for you!
Work in a title office or in the mortgage industry, IMO, should be a prerequisite for doing loan signing work. The behind the scenes things you learn and the little details you pick up are priceless. |
