Amen to your last paragraph!
For the same reason as you (the rare phone call), I've never removed myself from their database, so I get bombarded nearly every day with emails from them. What I find most interesting, though, is that they nearly always are for locations outside the radius that I routinely cover. So my guess is that they expand their list of who to send the offers to for the ones that aren't filled immediately.
That would also mean that the ones in the area that I DO cover are being snapped up by people who are willing to accept their crazy $90 fees - or even less, if the $90 is an increase. (Because my coverage area isn't a desert with nothing going on here!) It also means that none of those emails I get from them come even close to making sense for me to even try to get. But it's still a little bit of a barometer for what's going on in the market.
