the signer said, "You're not one of those notaries that only gives me a certain amount of time to sign, are you? I'm a reader. Because if you are, don't even bother to unpack your stuff. I sent the last notary packing as she told me I only had 20 minutes to sign." Well, as it happened it was my last signing of the day so I had some time. We got along even tho I declined his offered beer. Got it done in an hour. As it turned out, my patience paid off. He requested me on three other refi's at $150 each. Turned out to be a profitable relationship even tho he was quite the reader. By the second and third time, he was not reading very much at all. The drink offers had escalated to wine, and finally a gin and tonic. All of which I politely declined.
We all make our best judgement calls in these situations. You did what was best for you. I probably would have hung in there with your signer.....just to be annoying and not let him get the best of me. But, maybe not. I wasn't walking in your shoes as they say. Glad it worked out for you.
Have a great signing day! |
