I'm currently doing just that for a possible purchase. And believe me, I am requesting (and receiving) preliminary CDs to compare. I'm not interested in using a national (non-local) TC, as I want it to be hands on - and the neighborhood attorney knows the property nuances, county data, etc. I have been told by lender, "We can see that you're on top of things." Yep. My money, my choice.
["I reminded him that we are paying for the title company."] Absolutely!
P.S. Seller would have to fully justify his/her choice of a particular closer if he/she insisted on using someone other than who I decide to go with. Right now I'm looking at a $500 difference in closing costs (and I need that $$ to buy large ticket items, move, etc.) |
