Fortunately, I found it before mom had to be put into the Alzheimer’s Care Center. Her Will reverted back to the original one, which is really a moot point because of the cost of Alzheimer’s. The Judge revoked the coerced POA. Not only was she coerced into signing this new Will, they had her sign a Quit Claim Deed removing mom’s name from the house. Getting mom’s name back on the house so it could be sold took over a year.
Elder abuse is real and although notarizing docs isn’t the perfect solution, it is an added check and balance. It’s good that banks have begun not honoring POA’s, unless their own. |
