About 3 years ago, neighbors at the cabin got insurance policy, similar to ours, but about $700/year cheaper. Hubby wanted to change to their company/agent. I said no because we knew who we were dealing with (agent) after a number of years and felt we stood a better chance if tragedy hit. This year, two weeks after fire got to within 10 miles of us, the neighbors insurance was canceled — reason they use wood to heat. WTH — we are off grid in a National Forest and live in cabins. We all use wood to heat. Pretty pathetic reason to cancel the policy in middle of forest fire (now burning going on 2-1/2 months) knowing darn good and well wood is used to heat their wood cabin.
You really do get what you pay for — if a cheap price sounds too good, run. |
