I did a GNW assignment this afternoon. The signing location was at a magnificent mansion with beautiful landscaping. Gorgeous. I only had to do one notarization. I spoke with the signer for a few minutes at his dining room table. During the initial phone call, I had quoted the signer a very generous fee for myself. (The more I raise my fees, the more I get paid. I have had virtually no resistance to my steady price increases this past year) I have to remind myself that most people don't really care about a di-minimis fee for a notary public. They just want the service. Household incomes have gone through the roof since March of 2020 (except for notaries)
At the conclusion of the notarization, the signer thanked me, extended his hand with a fist full of $100 bills, walked me to the door and told me to have a nice day. He was most gracious, but I felt like he pitied me that I had such a menial job. "Homeless. Will work for food". I was a bit embarrassed.
